There are some things I just will not give up for comfort! You will never, ever see me in Croc's!! Not even to wear around the house! Hell, I've never even tried the ugly things on! It's undeniable how repulsive Croc's are, even the cat's hate them! Hee Hee!

Somewhere, Somehow
These last three weeks at work have been unbelievably stressful for me and I know that it's because I allow myself to stress over things I cannot control. A woman I work with is struggling with the quality in her job and I am mentoring her to get her back on track again. If she does not get back on track, and fast, she could lose her job. I know it is up to her to turn things around but I still struggle with the fact that she may lose her job.
I care about her and her well being, but try as I might, I want to leave work at work so when I come home I try to do things to keep my mind off of it. Music is always one of the best ways to do this for me and one of my favorite songs that will take my mind away and make me smile is by Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On. Ironic, hm? :) I can't help but smile when I hear the words and this video is so fitting...a leisurely ride on a bike is one of the best ways to spend a summer day!
I wish those three little birds would come and sit on my windowsill......somewhere, somehow.
Don't forget to put your records on and let your hair down :)

Birthday Wishes
It's days like these that you can't help being sad. Days like these that memories flood your mind and you wish things were different but you know there is nothing you can do to change it. I was sitting in the car today when this song played and I couldn't stop the tears from flowing. No matter how hard I tried, they wouldn't stop.
Today would have been my moms birthday, well, it IS her birthday and always will be to me. She would have been 51. So young. I miss her every day, but landmark days are worse than others. I know that I will always miss her and I will always love her and wish things were different, but the only thing I can do on days like today, and every other day, is to remember. Remember her smile, her laugh, her hugs, her gentle nature, her kindness, everything about her. She may be gone, but she will always be with me.

Everybody's Free
This "song" played on my iPod the other night and honestly I have no idea where* it came from or why I have it, but it actually has some damn good advice in it if you listen carefully. The video is kind of wonky and weird but sometimes it's easier to "hear" the words than read them.
*I have been gently reminded of who I received this song from and I promise I won't forget again! Thank you!! ;)
I've added the words and high lighted my favorites. Oh, and no, I didn't graduate in the class of '99, but close.... :)
Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99
Wear sunscreen
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be
it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
than my own meandering experience…I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh never mind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you
imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that
never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm
on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you
Sing
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with
people who are reckless with yours.
Floss
Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes
you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with
yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you
succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.
Stretch
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your
life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they
wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year
olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe
you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky
chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t
congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own..
Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for
good.
Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the
people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you
should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the
older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live
in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will
philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize
that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were
noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one
might run out.
Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will
look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
ugly parts and recycling it for more than
it’s worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen…

I'm Not Moving
"Have you stopped to consider that it's life's "disconnects," "almosts," and "not quites," that make life's "connections," "gotchas," and "eurekas" so fantastically romantic? Good, because they were your idea." ~~A Note From The Universe
Well, first of all, Happy St. Patrick's day to all of you!! I hope it was joyous and safe!
I came across this group not so long ago and it seemed fitting to share it here today. The Script is an Irish Pop band from Dublin, Ireland, and fairly new. It was their second single that really caught my heart because it displays a powerful conviction for love, his love, for one girl ,and he's willing to wait for her through whatever comes his way. In the same regard it's sad, though, because he's letting his life pass him by waiting for someone that may never come back to him.

Here's wishing you happiness and a little bit of luck EVERY day of they year! :)

"The only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude." ~~Dennis S. Brown
Ever have one of those days that you wish you could just wipe away like words on a white board? Once you wipe them away, they are gone and never to be thought about again? Yep, that was today for me. It doesn't matter why or what happened because it doesn't change anything but I can tell you I just wanted to stand at the top of a mountain and scream at the top of my lungs "FUCK IT ALL"!!
So anyway, I remembered something I had seen a while back and it actually made me chuckle, which, when you are really pissed off and you can chuckle, it's a good path to be on. So you take a deep breath and begin again, even if it's in the middle of the day. You have to make your own choice to either be pissed off or move on because the only thing you can change about it, is you.
Have a look at the clip that came to mind...I dare you not to at least smile in watching Robin Williams! He is one man I would love to meet in person!

Oh, and please stay away from Olestra. He wasn't shitting when he spoke of it...well...I guess he would be if he was taking it...but...heh!!

Flight From Sadness
"A bicycle ride is a flight from sadness." -James E. Starrs
Today was the first day that I have been able to hop back on the saddle, mostly due to frigid weather, partly due to available time. I didn't think that winter would ever end so I could ride again. It kicks my ass every time, but I still missed it, terribly. It's my outlet for many things, aggression being one of them. Pedal harder and faster and you feel better in no time! One thing I regret, though, is not taking a spinning class over the winter. I have to train my ass all over again too...ugh...lol!
I will never be able to understand how you can stand outside and it be perfectly still. It seems as if there is no wind at all, even the trees are still. Yet as soon as I get on my bike, with out fail, the wind starts up with me. I believe the wind has a vendetta against me, well not really of course, but it sure seems that way. Granted, I love the wind for the same reason I hate it. It pushes me...hard! When it's against me I feel every bloody muscle in my body to keep going and not keel over. When it moves with me, I don't use it as an easy way out and coast along. I still push harder and faster, it's just a little bit easier.
I have a lot of work to do to get up to where I was in the fall and to surpass that, but I am excited about it. Thank goodness the warmer weather has finally arrived!
