What do you believe?

“What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined ... to strengthen each other ... to be at one with each other in silent unspeakable memories.”
~George Eliot

I've heard this song played over and over as of recent and have really come to enjoy it. It's funny to me, though, that it seems in this song that a soul mate is a lover. Granted, that is what one usually thinks when hearing the term "soulmate", but to me, it has a much broader spectrum of meanings.

I guess I see it differently, in a way. Yes, I think a soul mate can be a lover. I also think that during the course of our lives we encounter many soul mates. Those people that you have an immediate connection with that you just cannot explain. Those that become your absolute best friend and know you inside and out, the good and the bad, and still love you. Sometimes these people are in your life for only a moment, but change your life in one way or another. I do believe that soul mates can last a lifetime, but I also believe that they can leave you just as fast as they came to you, never the less, leaving prints on your heart forever.

You never have to search for a soul mate, they are just there, at the right moment, at the point in your life that you need them the most. Cherish them, and be grateful for them.

Koyaanisqatsi

I just finished reading Dan Brown's book called Angels & Demons. I knew he wrote The Da Vinci Code, which I haven't read, but the movie was fantastic and I had been told that Angels & Demons was equally as good, if not better. Then I saw that the movie will be coming out on May 15th and labeled it as a must read.

When I picked up this book, it captured my attention immediately. So much that upon first opening the cover, I read non-stop until I was a third of the way through the book! I don't remember the last book that held my attention so fast and hard that I didn't want to put the book down, not even to powder my nose..heh!

Dan Brown captures your interest from the Prologue! He baits you and reels you in page by page. He makes you use your brain. You roll the information around and around coming to your own conclusions only to find you were wrong, over and over, and then ultimately you realize you were right the first time. Then there are times that you just stare at the pages and say "What?!" in total disbelief.

This book takes you on one hell of a "realistic" adventure all the while giving you a look into history. His research is brilliant and his attention to detail impeccable. There were many times that I had to remind myself to keep breathing because it was so fast paced and exciting. That, and forcing myself to go to bed instead of reading into the wee hours of the morning! Some say sleep is good for you. I tend to disagree sometimes :)

I have a feeling that Dan Brown will be a favorite author for a long time to come. I plan on reading The Da Vinci Code soon and I also just ordered Deception Point. I have an inclination I won't be disappointed in either!

I encourage you to pick up this book. I am quite sure it will not take you very long to read it in its entirety! Trust me :)

Oh, in case you were wondering, Koyaanisqatsi means "Life out of Balance" in the Hopi language. It is a term used in the book, just once, and it just struck me. Is our life ever truly "in balance"? Probably not. That is what makes it so interesting.

Give Blood. Play Hockey.

"You miss 100% of the shots you never take." ~Wayne Gretzky

I like sports, or most of them anyway. I could really care less about golf. Maybe playing it is more fun than watching it. I can say it's almost a sure fire way to fall asleep if you're needing to. However, football, baseball, basketball, and soccer are the ones I have followed the most.

That is until now. I think I have finally found my absolute favorite sport. One that I didn't expect to enjoy in the least.

A few weeks ago my daughter completed her D.A.R.E. program and the leading officer offered group tickets to go see our local AHL Hockey team, the Ice Hogs, play one night. I had no intention of even thinking about going until my daughter expressed how much she wanted to go. Of course, the only reason she wanted to go was because all her friends were going to be there, not because of the game. So upon my daughters plea and my sons eagerness to go see a game, we purchased the tickets and went to the game on January 25th.

Last night I went to a third game and loved every minute of it. It is definitely an exhilarating game full of action and speed. If you blink, you just might miss the most important play of the game.

I've been to football, basketball and baseball games and none of them compare to a hockey game. The chill in the air. The swooshing of the skates on the ice. The echo of the puck slapping the stick. The reverberation of the glass as a player gets slammed into it. The vibration of the seats as the crowd stomps and cheers. The rush of everyone standing at once as a goal is made and everyone giving high-fives to strangers. Then there is the rush of a fight. You can see the tension build as the game plays and when sticks drop and helmets fly, everyone is on their feet cheering and screaming. Then comes the disappointment when the referees separate the men.

Even when your team doesn't win, you still leave the game feeling good and knowing you had fun and cannot wait till you can go again! I can't believe it's taken me this long to realize what I've been missing!

Break Away

“Sometimes people put up walls, not to keep others out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.” ~Unknown

This is a song that I seem to always go back to. It's one I can relate to and one I can understand. Unfortunately, some things are easier said, than done.

Second Glance

I had the T.V. on tonight and my daughter was sitting next to me so we were gabbing during the commercials. I don't even remember what we were talking about when my eyes wandered to the T.V. and saw "just another cell phone commercial". Well, that is, until I took a second glance. What I thought was long hair in a pony tail.....well, you'll have to watch it to see what I mean.

I couldn't help but laugh and I don't mean just a gentle chuckle. I mean a full belly laugh. A damn near snort worthy laugh. Don't ask me why because it is really disgusting. I'm blaming it on the fact that I may be delusional due to lack of sleep and taking cold medicine. Naw...not really. I just find it funny, and sometimes, the dumbest things are what I find the most funny. That's just me and one of my quirks :)

I am...

I am stronger than you think I am!

“Life is filled with happiness, sadness, tears, smiles, laughter and other emotions but when life gets you down, just be strong about it and keep your head up high and have faith in all things in life. Always remember: Life doesn’t require that we be the best, only that we try our best.” — Unknown

Open Happiness

I had missed a few of the commercials during the Super Bowl (stupid laundry) this year so I meandered over to hulu.com to see if anything I had missed was worth seeing. In my opinion, the commercials aren't getting better and I wasn't overly impressed with this years selection, but what do I know?

Yes, there were a few funny ones and of course, I always love the Clydesdale ones, especially "Clydesdale Circus" and "SoBe Lizard Lake 3D" was cute too. The one that stuck out for me, though, was the commercial Coke did called "Heist". I love the creativity that went into it and each time I watched it, it just made me smile. Everyone can use a few extra smiles in their life :)

Whooooo....am I?

I haven't taken one of these silly quizzes in quite some time and I happened upon this one tonight. "Are you a Pirate or a Ninja?". Goofy questions. Some were like "wtf?" and some were cute! They even had one "The pet best suited for me as a Pirate or Ninja is..." and one of the choices was a TURTLE!! Well duh, that was a given :p

So I guess I am a Ninja, thank goodness! The wardrobe is much more fashionable AND I can play with sharp swords...better watch out! *giggles*!

I can say that I have...

Music is a huge part of me. It's something that I enjoy every day, and with out it, I think I'd be a really stressed out person. It helps me keep my focus, it calms me down, and it just gives me an outlet, a place to go when reality sucks.

I am always on the alert for new artists to listen to and I was doing random searches on last.fm one night and I came across a group called Angels And Airwaves. They are a newly formed alternative rock band, coming together in 2005 with their first album in 2006. Interesting group with interesting songs, with Everything's Magic as one of my favourites.

Have a listen...
