Fukitol

"The only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude." ~~Dennis S. Brown

Ever have one of those days that you wish you could just wipe away like words on a white board? Once you wipe them away, they are gone and never to be thought about again? Yep, that was today for me. It doesn't matter why or what happened because it doesn't change anything but I can tell you I just wanted to stand at the top of a mountain and scream at the top of my lungs "FUCK IT ALL"!!

So anyway, I remembered something I had seen a while back and it actually made me chuckle, which, when you are really pissed off and you can chuckle, it's a good path to be on. So you take a deep breath and begin again, even if it's in the middle of the day. You have to make your own choice to either be pissed off or move on because the only thing you can change about it, is you.

Have a look at the clip that came to mind...I dare you not to at least smile in watching Robin Williams! He is one man I would love to meet in person!

Oh, and please stay away from Olestra. He wasn't shitting when he spoke of it...well...I guess he would be if he was taking it...but...heh!!

Flight From Sadness

"A bicycle ride is a flight from sadness." -James E. Starrs

Today was the first day that I have been able to hop back on the saddle, mostly due to frigid weather, partly due to available time. I didn't think that winter would ever end so I could ride again. It kicks my ass every time, but I still missed it, terribly. It's my outlet for many things, aggression being one of them. Pedal harder and faster and you feel better in no time! One thing I regret, though, is not taking a spinning class over the winter. I have to train my ass all over again too...ugh...lol!

I will never be able to understand how you can stand outside and it be perfectly still. It seems as if there is no wind at all, even the trees are still. Yet as soon as I get on my bike, with out fail, the wind starts up with me. I believe the wind has a vendetta against me, well not really of course, but it sure seems that way. Granted, I love the wind for the same reason I hate it. It pushes me...hard! When it's against me I feel every bloody muscle in my body to keep going and not keel over. When it moves with me, I don't use it as an easy way out and coast along. I still push harder and faster, it's just a little bit easier.

I have a lot of work to do to get up to where I was in the fall and to surpass that, but I am excited about it. Thank goodness the warmer weather has finally arrived!

I Choose...

You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. — Albert Einstein

Tonight started the top 13 performances for Season 8 of American Idol and I can say that it was fun to watch. I've watched the past 7 seasons and every year the contenders get better and better. Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson (just released another album today, actually), Daughtry and David Cook are my favourites!

Every year, as I watch the painful weeks that lead up to and including Hollywood Week, I pick a few favourites that I think will go far or at least make it to the top 12. Thankfully no windows in my house were harmed in the process thus far...heh!

Danny and Adam were the two that stuck out to me during the weeks of auditions and then again during Hollywood week, and tonight, they were both fantastic. Two completely different styles and vocal sounds. Danny is on the soulful side and no matter what song he chooses, he has that kind of husky raspy voice mixed with his charm and smile, you just can't take your eyes, I mean ears, off of him! Adam just rocks it out every time. He can take any song and change it completely to go with his rhythm and style. He's not afraid to take big risks and he knows what he wants. On top of that, he's damn hot and has the eyes that just make you melt...lol.

With tonights artist of inspiration being Michael Jackson (not my favourite, let me tell you), it was a tough pair of shoes to fill for everyone. It's difficult to take a song from a pronounced artist and make it your own and still stand out with out killing the song itself. Kudos to everyone, especially Danny and Adam. They haven't disappointed me so far and I can't wait to see what they bring to the table in the coming weeks.

I Remember

“Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.” ~~ Kevin Arnold

I was going through a few photos and as I did, these videos popped into memory. Sad as they may be, they are of my favorites.

This one makes me cry every time I see it.....

A Side Of Blue, Please?

I've been "patiently" waiting for The Watchmen to come to screen and today I finally got to see it. (Yes I know it just came out last night..hee hee. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm not so patient). To be honest, I never followed the comics behind The Watchmen but I remember seeing the trailer during another movie and my interest was peaked. I can say I wasn't disappointed, even though it received some tough reviews after it initial showing. I honestly don't even pay attention to the reviews so much. Sure, I'll look into them and if everybody and their brother hated the movie, I won't waste my money in the theater, but I will watch it. What I like and what the "reviewers" like are two completely different worlds. I like to make my own assessment! Take it for what it's worth, I guess.

So my assessment is that it isn't really a jaw dropping movie, but it was really good. For a movie that is nearly three hours long, it was fast paced enough that the time moved quickly and it was captivating enough that you didn't realize your butt got sore for sitting for so long..heh! I would definitely watch it again, and again, and perhaps once more.

The characters are, shall we say, different. Now Comedian was nothing as I had "imagined" his character to be (remember I hadn't followed the comics). Jeffrey Dean Morgan usually doesn't play that type of role and all I can say is Edward was pretty much a sadistic bastard. Somewhere in there he had a heart, I think. Now Night Owl, he is like the boy next door. Always wanting the girl he can't have. Down to earth and just a plain ole nice guy. Rorschach, he's the guy you want on your side because if you piss him off, your future is pretty much set in the grave. Ozymandias is Mr. Goody Two Shoes. That's all I have to say about that. Silk Spectre II, now she's the HOT girl next door..lol! She has some tough decisions to make, though, and even when bad news came her way, she made the best of it. Saving the best for last, Dr. Manhattan. Let's just say I have no qualms about that man being blue! ;)

My only question that was left unanswered....Which role proves more difficult? A good guy trying to pretend he's bad, or the bad guy trying to pretend he's the good guy? I think its pretty much a dead tie, sadly enough.

Oh, one more thing...if you ever get a chance to have the four legged chicken, I hear its good ;)

***********************************************************

I must share this preview I saw before the movie started! O-M-G! I cannot wait to see this movie! March 27th and I am there!!! It looks like a movie that will make me jump in my seat and potentially scream out loud in the theater..lol! Based off of a true story (HOLY BLOODY HELL!!!) it's called The Haunting In Connecticut. Have a look!! I LOOOOVEEE scary movies!! :) Can't wait! Can't wait!

To think how many generations of my family that grew up on Dr. Seuss and the generations to come makes me smile. Dr. Seuss is full of fun and imagination and even a lesson or two or twenty :) Even as an adult, I still enjoy reading those books!!

In Like A Lamb...

“Only in art will the lion lie down with the lamb, and the rose grow without thorn” ~~ Martin Amis

We've all heard the saying "In like a lion, out like a lamb" in regards to the first day of March. I'm still waiting for the lion to rear its ugly head because today definitely came in as a lamb. It was a very quiet day. I don't even think it was breezy out. The sun was shining all day with barely a cloud to speak of, and even though it was only a whopping 20 degrees out as the high, it was a beautiful day. I don't mind the cold as much when the sun is shining.

I can only hope that the end of March will be just as calm, perhaps a bit warmer though :)

This is a shot from my front yard of the sun setting! So pretty!
